Dr. Netina Tan's research into electoral integrity will be supported by a multi-year SSHRC Insight Development Grant. The project, entitled "Electoral Integrity in East and Southeast Asia," is a data-grounded, mixed-methods project that will advance knowledge in the emerging field of electoral integrity and create an open data infrastructure critical to elections monitoring in Asia. This project will document and analyze primary and secondary information on the constitutional design, electoral rules, electoral management system and reported electoral violations in 14 Asian countries over the last two decades. In addition, Dr. Tan will conduct cross-country survey analysis of attitudes towards elections and in-depth fieldwork in four dominant party systems in Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan in 2017-8.
