The Department offers programs at all levels of study.

Our undergraduate programs have been transformed in recent years. We have added options like a co-op program and specializations in Global Citizenship and Public Law and Judicial Studies to provide additional opportunities to apply classroom learning or to deepen their engagement with topics of personal interest. Our teaching has always had the objective of giving our graduates a sophisticated and critical understanding of politics, and this has been augmented with more explicit attention to developing in-demand skills in teamwork, strategy, organization, communication, and data analysis.

Students looking to perfect their analytical and research skills should consider our graduate program. We are a research-intensive department that emphasizes exposure to a diversity of theoretical perspectives and the development of methodological and analytical rigour. Our department is an ideal size for graduate students: we are large enough to cover the discipline, but small enough for close student-instructor contact and meaningful peer-to-peer learning. We offer a Masters in Global Politics that is unique in Canada, as well as a Masters of Political Science that covers studies of public policy, comparative politics, political theory and Canadian politics. Our PhD program made its reputation for its emphases on International Relations and Comparative Public Policy, but is now open to all fields.
