Congratulations PhD student Aye Lei Tun on the CSEAI award!

Political Science PhD candidate Aye Lei Tun has been one of two students in Canada to be awarded a competitive grant from Canadian Southeast Asian Initiative (CSEASI) to support her doctoral studies in McMaster. Her dissertation examines the resilience of women’s civil society organization in authoritarian regimes in Southeast Asia, especially Myanmar and Thailand. Her recent op-ed on women’s role in fighting for justice and democracy in Myanmar has been featured on the Globe and Mail here.
Canadian Southeast Asian Studies Initiative / Initiative canadienne pour l’étude du sud-est asiatique (CSEASI / CESEA) is funded by Henry Luce Foundation, a new initiative that aims to build capacity in, and raise the profile of, Southeast Asian Studies in Canadian universities through support for pedagogy, graduate training, research, and outreach.
