Bottom-up Transformation in Higher Education and its Opportunities

Political Science PhD student, Oldrich Bubak, discusses a path-breaking policy at one of McMaster’s faculties

Mar 01, 2019

Systemic change, and particularly in education systems, is never easy given the forces of habit, history, or economics. Yet, as deep change can be set in motion in places not at all obvious or common, there may be a manifold promise on the horizon – a bottom-up drive to improve teaching with a potential to expand career possibilities for many hoping for employment in the academia. There is an effort underway at McMaster University's Faculty of Engineering which holds such a promise.

Oldrich Bubak discusses these developments in a unique article aimed at once at faculty executive staff and students. His new piece, Exploring a bottom-up drive to transform tertiary teaching, is now available in University Affairs.
