Political Science Ph.D. Candidate, Roomana Hukil critically analyzes the role of Indian environmental non-governmental organizations (NGOs) under the wake of the state’s climate crisis. She discusses mainstream narratives of environmental conservation, green lifestyle choices and individual action urging NGOs to put pressure on the state and take ownership of the climate problem as opposed to obliging the public to mitigate their carbon footprint.
