McMaster political scientist joins editorial team of leading journal

McMaster’s Michelle Dion has been named to the editorial team of the American Political Science Review, a leading journal in the field and the flagship journal of the American Political Science Association.

Jul 30, 2019

Dr. Dion, an associate  professor in the Department of Political Science who has previously served on five journals’ editorial teams, is one of 12 new members of the team that will assume its duties June 1, 2020 with a mandate to expand the journal’s depth and scope.

“I’m excited to work with such an accomplished team to enhance the APSR’s reputation as the first place to look for rigorous political science research. We plan to modernize the journal’s communication strategies, and we have room in the annual page allocation to increase by almost 50 per cent the number of published articles,” Dion says.

“I hope our outreach activities and editorial transparency will generate additional submissions to address questions previously deemed too narrow for the journal. These questions – about inequality, race, gender, or sexuality – are also central to many current political conflicts at all levels of government around the globe.”

Dion is also founding Director of the Centre for Research in Empirical Social Sciences at McMaster University. Her work examines the political economy of social policy, sexuality, attitudes, and policy and diversity in political science.
