Municipal Election Season

Students and graduates make their mark

Nov 05, 2018

The recent municipal elections were marked with a heavy departmental presence. A number of students in Dr. Todd Alway's Practice of Politics (3PR3) class gained placement experience in the day-to-day organization of mayoral and council campaigns.

Departmental graduates Maureen Wilson (BA'89) and Cam Galindo (BA'18) won election as Hamilton City Councillor and the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board Trustee, respectively. MA graduate Marlo Toppazzini (MA'16) finished a strong second in her race for Ward Councillor in Fort Erie.

Congratulations to all our students and graduates who gave of themselves in this important exercise, and for continuing to shape our civic conversation.
