PhD Candidate Noah Fry Awarded Alvin Irwin Ogilvie Graduate Scholarship!

Noah Fry, a PhD Candidate in the Department of Political Science (Comparative Public Policy), received the Alvin Irwin Ogilvie Graduate Scholarship. Established in 1984, the scholarship is annually awarded to a department nominated-PhD student from the Humanities and Social Sciences.
Noah’s research agenda asks how we can recalibrate the state and its trade policy to generate inclusive gains for marginalized people. As one application of this agenda, his doctoral dissertation examines the “Team Canada” approach to the NAFTA renegotiations. Here, he argues that continental North America has become an increasingly unreliable trade region for Canada. Therefore, “Team Canada” should be more an industrial policy and less a free trade coalition.
Noah’s published work can be found at journals like Canadian Public Administration and Canadian Foreign Policy Journal, with organizations like the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, and in popular press like The Conservation and National Post.
