PhD student Abigail Jaimes Zelaya awarded SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship

PhD student Abigail Jaimes Zelaya awarded a 2025 SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship to support her research.
Abigail Jaimes Zelaya has been awarded the SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship. Her interdisciplinary research examines Toronto’s municipal COVID-19 vaccine rollout strategies, drawing on historical analysis, critical race theory, and philosophical frameworks. By situating public health policy within broader histories and examining structures of power, her work sheds light on how legacies of race and governance continue to shape health outcomes, particularly for Black communities during times of crisis.
